Add a secondary subject to a published project

You can add a secondary subject to a subject that is being evaluated after the project has been published. How this is done depends on whether or not the subject in the project is set to use Automatic Update.

With automatic update

  1. Add the secondary subject to the external datasource if it does not already exist.
  2. Add a new record to the existing relationship file.
  3. Import the relationship datasource that now includes the record for the secondary subject being added.
  4. Edit and save the project or wait for the automatic update to occur.

Without automatic update

  1. Add the secondary subject to the Blue user datasource if it does not already exist.
  2. Add a new record to the existing relationship file.
  3. Import the relationship datasource that now includes the record for the secondary subject being added.
  4. Edit the project and navigate to Subjects - Subject Pairing Selection.
  5. Click Select Subject Pairings at the bottom, the selection list screen should now show the new secondary subject.
  6. Add the new secondary subject, then select Close.
  7. Select Save.
BEST PRACTICE
  • Disable notifications for all tasks before making changes
  • Keep a record of the number of tasks before and after adding the instructor to verify if the expected changes took place
  • Verify memberships are updated and correct
  • Update the description section in the datasource and project to indicate the changes made and the date

After completing the steps above for the appropriate situation the secondary subject will be added to the project.

Adding a subject that has been manually deleted

If a subject has been manually deleted and you wish to restore it, you can do so by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the project list and edit your project
  2. Navigate to Subjects
  3. On the right of the list of subjects, change Show: Active Courses to Manually Deleted Courses
  4. Select the subject you wish to restore and choose Undelete
  5. Save the project
NOTE

If you manually restore a deleted subject to a project that is automatically-updated, any changes to the underlying data relating to that subject that have been made since you deleted it will be updated to the project. This can have an impact on the evaluation of that subject. We advise you make sure that you are aware of any changes to the data relating to that subject before restoring it.
