(BNG 2023) Developing Faculty Data and Feedback Literacy

Aug-01-2023

On most campuses, student feedback is often intended to be a component of both formative and summative evaluation of teaching processes. This presentation, which reports on an initial pilot study exploring faculty member’s interpretation and use of student feedback, explores two key (and often overlooked) aspects of the evaluation of teaching process that may hinder the effective use of student feedback – faculty data literacy and faculty feedback literacy. After defining both concepts, this presentation explores strategies for how data and feedback literacy can be enhanced to make more effective use of student feedback to improve teaching and learning.
