(BNG 2023) How a School of Dentistry Improved Its Evaluation Response Rates and Quality of Course and Teaching Evaluations

Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) implemented Blue institution-wide in the Fall of 2013. Shortly afterwards, the team administering Blue evaluations and administrators realized the evaluation response rates for the School of Dentistry were too low (10 to 20%) to be used for program or instructor improvement. But the administrators and faculty in the School of Dentistry were determined to improve, so they implemented several interventions and now their response rates are 70 to 90%. We share these interventions, how they improved without sacrificing the quality of the evaluations from students, along with how the School of Dentistry administration and faculty use the evaluation data to improve their courses.
