(BNG 2023) Immersive Experiences of Biblical Proportions
Aug-01-2023
Virtual reality has the potential to transform higher education by providing an immersive learning experience that enhances student engagement and learning outcomes. Students have difficulty visualizing historical locations and landmarks. Picture or video representations often provide a flat experience. Virtual Reality (VR) makes religious sites come to life by allowing students to explore ancient relics as they were. Using the Immersive Bible software, students visited the Tabernacle as it looked based on the extensive descriptions in the Old Testament. The experimental research conducted as a part of the Bluenotes Faculty Research Grant analyzed student perceptions of virtual reality and its impact on learning in the short and long term. This session also provides insights into the potential benefits and challenges of implementing virtual reality in higher education. Participants also have the opportunity to participate in the VR experience.
