(BNG 2023) Implementation, Data and Future Directions for Blue Management of Course Evaluations

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s IDEAs in Action initiative is an innovative program aimed at assessing student learning outcomes (SLOs) across a range of interdisciplinary areas and focus capacities. Starting in the Fall 2022 semester, Blue was leveraged for the assessment of this new general education curriculum. In this presentation we discuss how questions were developed to directly mirror student learning outcomes and the role various campus stakeholders played in question development. We highlight important aspects of implementing this new program including data changes, question bank v. triggers, and reporting. We also discuss the program's future directions and lessons learned. This presentation is useful to Blue users who are interested in implementing a parallel assessment alongside a standard student evaluation of teaching process.
