Overview of group elements in reports

To maximize the usefulness of a report it is often necessary to compare the results for a particular subject with computed averages, statistics, or to breakdown these same results by some field that is already present in the data. To be able to display data in such a manner, it is recommended to define and use Group Elements, which help to contextualize the results in a report and provide different methods of data calculations for each group in a project. They offer more granularity and greater flexibility in terms of displaying the data and, ultimately, help the report viewer to make sense of the data in a report.

NOTE

Multiple group elements can be created for each group, but only one group/calculation type pairing is allowed.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT GROUP ELEMENTS
  • LongText fields cannot be used as demographic fields for the Norm Across Subjects or Norm Across Responses group elements.
  • Rollover reports do not support Norm Across Subjects or Norm Across Responses group elements.
  • Breakdown by Field group elements are not supported in reports with Breakdown by Secondary Subject enabled.

There are several types of Group Elements, each with its own characteristics and ability to be applied to different report block types once configured.
