Statistical analysis unit
The Statistical Analysis Unit is used exclusively with the statistical distribution block in rollover and group by reports. It enables the selection of the grouping structure that the statistical distribution block will analyze. In essence, if a department field in the course data is selected, it will provide the distribution of all department means, i.e. how many departments have means that fall within specified ranges.
This type of group element can only be used in a Question - Statistical Distribution report block.
Group element configuration
The above image is taken from a regular course-instructor evaluation. There is one rater group (Students) which must be selected to enable the block to function properly. In a 360 implementation or in a scenario where multiple groups exist, any combination of raters can be selected to define the group element.
- Course Field lists all available course fields in the datasources that are used to group responses and calculate the relevant averages.
- Instructor Field lists all available instructor fields in the datasources that are used to group responses and calculate the relevant averages.

Question - Statistical Distribution
The statistical distribution block enables the identification of how many subject groupings (group by department, academic group, etc) fall within specified ranges, per question.

Some use case examples
This combination of group element and report block will enable university administrators to identify problematic departments or other structures. They can determine how many, and ultimately which departments have scores that are outside an acceptable range, and then may choose to address their outstanding issues.
