Add a relationship datasource
The following procedure explains how to set up a relationship datasource in Blue. A relationship datasource is used to create a many-to-many relationship between two different groups of entities. A relationship datasource needs at least two fields. Additional fields can be added to the datasource to further qualify the relationship between the entities.
This procedure assumes that two datasources (source and target) have already been imported into Blue and that they need to be linked together in a one-to-one or a one-to-many relationship.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP DATASOURCE
- Records can be added and updated to the Relationship datasource using Record Management.
- An additional system field, Organizational Role ID, can be included in the Relationship datasource. It is a necessary component of Dynamic Report Viewers.
- Additional demographic data can be included with a Relationship datasource record to further qualify the relationship.
- Secondary Subject Grouping requires an additional field in the Relationship datasource that contains the grouping information.
- Choosing to overwrite the primary data block in a Relationship datasource will also overwrite any records that have been added in Record Management.
- When exporting a Relationship datasource, two files are created, one for the data block and one for any records that have been created in Record Management.
- Additional Row data blocks can be added to the Relationship datasource.
