Data Sync Tool (DST) guide

Data Sync is a utility designed to work as a companion application to Blue. Data Sync enables data to be imported from CSV files, Excel files, SQL databases and Oracle databases via web services that utilize the HTTPS protocol. This can often be significantly safer than a direct connection to the Blue database since it is not necessary to open the organization's firewall. In addition, Data Sync operates as a Windows Service that is always available so that data imports can occur on a regular automated schedule.

From a high-level, follow these steps to set up Data Sync to import external datasources to Blue.

  1. Data Sync Tool configuration
  2. Add datasources
  3. Establish the datasource connection
  4. Map the fields in field mapping
  5. Set the sync settings
  6. Start syncing.

A detailed explanation of the functions and set up necessary to import a datasource into Blue using Data Sync can be found within this section.

NOTE

Data must be imported manually at least once in order to generate a schema for the datasource. After the schema has been generated, the Blue Web Services functions can be called by third party programs to import and update the datasource.
