What is a Comment Sentiment
A Comment Sentiment associates an emotion to the comment to capture the emotion behind it, eliminating the need to interpret the overall intention behind it, allowing you to quickly identify areas that need further analysis.
There are five (5) sentiments that can be associated to the comment:
- Positive: associated when the respondent is pleased or happy about something.
- Negative: associated when the respondent is dissatisfied with something.
- Neutral: associated when the feeling or attitude falls between positive and negative. Some possible keywords associated with a neutral sentiment are ok, fair, not bad, acceptable, satisfactory, or average.
- Mixed: associated when there are multiple sentiments within a comment, each resulting in different outcomes. For example, a comment may be assigned "mixed" if the respondent shares positive thoughts about an instructor but criticizes aspects of the course content.
- Not Explicit: associated to a comment when there is not clear sentiment that is being described. This can occur if there is not enough information or context to assign a sentiment.
How can I view the Comment Sentiment?
