Group members in Blue
What are members in Blue?
In Blue, a member is an individual who is participating in an evaluation process, and is given privileges to perform or access certain functions. Members must be assigned to a group in order for Blue to define what specific privileges each individual has within the evaluation process.
Members may belong to more than one Group at a time, and therefore have multiple privileges (e.g. a Dean who is also an Instructor; a Manager who is also an Employee).
Members typically are the individuals filling out the survey or viewing the survey results (Reports).
How are members used in Blue?
After you define the groups for your project, and assign tasks to those groups, you must then tell Blue which specific individuals will be in each group. With this information, Blue knows which individuals have the privileges to complete specific tasks. These individuals are labeled as members within your project.
Examples
Here are some examples of the types of members you might have in various Blue projects.
In a course evaluation project, you have three member groups:
- Students, who have the Privilege to fill out the evaluation
- Department Heads, who have the Privilege to view the evaluation results
- A special Instructors-SVM (Subject View Management) Group, where the Instructors have the Privilege to see and monitor what’s happening in the evaluation process, specifically the start and end date for the evaluation as well as the response rates for their own particular course(s). (Note that Subject View Management also allows for additional Privileges, such as the ability for Instructors to change the date of the evaluation as well as to Opt In/Opt Out of the evaluation process.)
In a 360-evaluation project, you have five member groups:
- Self group - who has the Privileges to conduct Rater Selection as well as Form Fill Out (i.e. select his/her own Raters and fill out their own self-assessment)
- Manager group - who have Form Fillout Privileges
- Peers group - who have Form Fillout Privileges
- Direct reports - who have Form Fillout Privileges
- Managers – RSS Group - which is a Group that has a unique Privilege of being able to sign off on their employees’ selected Raters
In a customer satisfaction survey (using a simplified survey), you have one member group:
- A report viewer group, who have the privilege to view evaluation results in reports
